INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION ENGINEER

GRZEGORZ BONTER

Welcome! I am an industrial automation and commissioning engineer with nearly a decade of experience delivering DCS solutions in complex environments worldwide. From offshore platforms in the North Sea to remote facilities in Africa, I specialize in rapidly mastering new systems to solve challenging technical problems. Let's connect if you need an independent, creative thinker to drive your next automation project to success.

  • 5 years of experience in validating control systems according to GMP

(BIO)PHARMA

In the biopharmaceutical sector, my experience includes delivering critical control system designs and commissioning services for a Merck plant in Vevey, where I successfully implemented a new nanofiltration skid, a high-throughput bag filling process, and extensive optimizations to the site's Yokogawa DCS. Additionally, as a Commissioning Automation Engineer in the Ghent Metropolitan Area, I commissioned Yokogawa-based automation systems for complex chemical and pharmaceutical facilities. This role encompassed testing existing control loops, executing vital corrections to both DCS and Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS), designing custom HMI elements, and providing hands-on troubleshooting support to local crews during crucial plant start-ups.

RENEWABLE ENERGY

My work in renewable energy features the commissioning of a GE SCADA system (DS Agile) for a 220/33kV transformer substation that connected 80 windmills to the French shore as part of the SNA project near Saint-Nazaire. I was responsible for commissioning the utility portion of the system, which involved performing meticulous checks and troubleshooting communication networks across various subsystems such as mitigation, doors, and cranes. Throughout this project, I successfully conducted Site Acceptance Tests and consistently provided actionable solutions to emerging issues directly with the client.

REFINING

As an Automation Engineer at the ZapSib 2 polypropylene production plant in Tobolsk, Russia, I led significant modifications across the plant's DCS, Fire & Gas, and Safety systems. I independently designed several new logic templates supporting over 200 motors while coordinating a diverse, multinational workload among various contracting companies. During the six-month engagement, I served as a primary consultant for the client regarding system implementations, provided critical troubleshooting during technological disruptions, and supported the commissioning team during the plant's start-up phase, including comprehensive incident investigations.

OIL&GAS

My extensive background in the oil and gas sector spans offshore gas platforms in the North Sea, onshore facilities in the Netherlands, and a comprehensive LNG project involving six substations in Angola. Working with major operators like Shell at a production facility in Hamburg, I managed control logic modifications, I/O adjustments, and live-system implementations. My technical scope encompasses upgrading outdated Yokogawa systems to Centum VP, executing Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), resolving post-shutdown issues, and commissioning major expansions such as new tie-in jackets and gas sampling modules.
